MyGoldWorth Resale Manager Calculators

Marketplace Fee Calculator

Every marketplace takes a different cut, and the difference decides where a piece should be listed. Work out the payout before you choose.

Fees vary more than most sellers realise. Poshmark takes a flat 20% above a threshold. eBay is around 13% on jewellery. Etsy is 6.5% plus listing and processing charges. Mercari sits around 10%.

The cheapest platform is not automatically the right one. A piece that sells in a week on eBay at 13% beats one sitting on Etsy at 6.5% for four months, because stock that does not move is money you cannot spend.

Postage is charged fees too on most platforms. If you offer free postage, the cost comes out of your side of the sale and the fee is calculated on the larger total.

Work out the break-even price before you list rather than after an offer arrives. Knowing the number below which a sale costs you money is what lets you accept or decline quickly, and quickly is usually worth more than the last few pounds of haggling.

Common questions

Which marketplace has the lowest fees for jewellery?

Etsy is usually cheapest by percentage, but it charges per listing and reaches a different audience. The right answer depends on what you sell and how fast it moves.

Do marketplaces charge fees on shipping?

Most do. eBay and Poshmark calculate their cut on the total the buyer paid, postage included.

What is break-even price?

The price at which the sale covers your cost and the fees exactly. Below it you are paying for the privilege of selling.
