About the valuations

What the numbers in this app mean, and what they do not.

The figures are estimates

Every value the app shows is calculated from the weight and purity you entered and the metal price it last received. Enter a weight that is out by a gram, or a purity that is a guess, and the figure will be wrong in proportion. The app cannot know what a piece really is.

Spot is not what you will be paid

Metal prices here are the international spot price, converted at the live exchange rate. Local duties, taxes, refining charges, and dealer margins sit on top of or under that. A buyer will offer less than spot; a jeweller will ask more. Melt value is a floor to reason from, not a quote.

Prices can be delayed, and are shown with the time they were last updated for that reason.

Not financial or investment advice

MyGoldWorth is a calculator and a record book. It does not advise you to buy, sell, or hold anything, and nothing it displays is a recommendation or a forecast. Precious metal prices fall as well as rise.

Not a valuation for insurance or tax

The figures are not a professional appraisal and are not prepared to any valuation standard. For insurance, probate, or a tax position, use a qualified appraiser.

Marketplace fees are estimates too

Fee presets follow each marketplace's published rates at the time they were entered. Rates change, promotions apply, and your account may be on different terms. Check the payout against your own statement and correct the figures the app recorded — they are editable for exactly this reason.
